Science in service of one goal: to thrive at 85
the science of healthspan
Longevity research has converged on six domains that determine not just how long you live — but how well.
Thrive@85 is built around all six. Because optimizing one while ignoring the others is not a strategy.
01 — CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS
The single greatest predictor of healthspan
VO₂Max — the maximum rate at which your body can consume oxygen during exercise — is the most powerful predictor of long-term health and longevity. More predictive than cholesterol, blood pressure, or BMI. Moving from the lowest VO₂Max quartile to above average is associated with a 70% reduction in all-cause mortality. A high VO₂Max at 60 is one of the strongest indicators of how you'll function at 80.
Thrive@85 measures your VO₂Max clinically — on a treadmill or bike with metabolic analysis, not estimated by a wearable. We establish your baseline, set a target, and build a training protocol designed to move that number. We calibrate with your wearables, monitor regularly, and retest every year to track progress.
02 — MUSCLE HEALTH
The organ of longevity
Muscle mass governs strength, balance, metabolic rate, and insulin sensitivity — and it declines steadily after 40 unless you actively work to preserve it. The research is unambiguous: people who maintain muscle mass as they age live longer and function better.
Thrive@85 uses DEXA body composition scanning to establish your baseline — precise measurement of muscle mass, fat mass, and bone density. Unlike weight or BMI, DEXA tells you what's actually changing. Your exercise physiologist builds a program around your results, focused on resistance training, functional movement, and progressive strength development. We retest twice a year to track progress.
03 — METABOLIC HEALTH
What you eat and how your body processes it
Insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and lipid imbalances are among the most modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease, cognitive decline, and cancer. Metabolic health is foundational — and largely within your control.
Your registered dietitian works with you on a nutrition approach grounded in current evidence — adequate protein for muscle preservation, dietary patterns that support metabolic health, and practical strategies that fit how you actually live. Your lab panel tracks the markers that matter: ApoB, fasting glucose, HbA1c, inflammatory markers, and other key metabolic indicators.
04 — sleep
The most underrated pillar
Sleep is when the body repairs, consolidates memory, clears metabolic waste from the brain, and regulates hormones. Chronic poor sleep accelerates nearly every dimension of aging. It is not optional — it is a biological process that can be measured and improved.
Your longevity coach monitors sleep quality as part of your ongoing program. Where significant issues are identified, we coordinate referral to a sleep specialist. For most members, targeted behavioral and environmental changes produce meaningful improvement.
05 — Brain & Cognitive Health
Protecting what matters most
06 — SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL WELLNESS
Connection is not optional
The research on social connection and longevity is as strong as the research on exercise. Isolation is a measurable health risk. Purpose, engagement, and meaningful relationships are not soft variables — they are biological ones.
Your longevity coach understands that health doesn't happen in a vacuum. The context of your life — relationships, purpose, stress, joy — is part of every conversation. Where deeper support is needed, we help connect you with the right resources. As the Thrive@85 community grows, members will have access to a network of people with shared goals and shared values.
OBJECTIVE DIAGNOSTICS
Measurement is where the program begins
You can't optimize what you haven't measured. Thrive@85 establishes a clinical baseline across the dimensions that matter most for healthspan — not a standard annual physical, but a targeted diagnostic picture designed to tell you and your care team exactly where you stand and where to focus.
Physician Longevity Exam Think of it as an executive physical — but purpose-built for healthspan rather than general screening. Once a year, your Thrive@85 physician conducts a comprehensive clinical review incorporating your full diagnostic results, your progress across the six healthspan domains, and any clinical changes that warrant attention. It goes well beyond what a standard annual physical covers, and well beyond what most concierge practices offer — because it's structured around a specific goal: optimizing how you age.
VO₂Max Assessment Clinical testing on a treadmill or bike. Retested annually, calibrated and monitored with wearable technology.
DEXA Body Composition Scan Muscle mass, fat mass, and bone density. Retested at mid-year and annually, calibrated and monitored with body composition scale.
Comprehensive Lab Panel ApoB, full lipid panel, fasting glucose, HbA1c, inflammatory markers, hormone levels, and additional indicators selected based on your individual profile and risk factors.
ADVANCED SCREENING
For members who want to go further
For members who want a more comprehensive picture, Thrive@85 supports access to two leading advanced screening tools. Both are optional and priced separately from the membership.
Galleri A multi-cancer early detection blood test that screens for more than 50 types of cancer through circulating tumor DNA — often before symptoms appear.
Prenuvo A full-body MRI that screens for a wide range of conditions without radiation exposure. Provides a detailed baseline and ongoing surveillance for members who want the most comprehensive picture available.
